Non seeded Tsvetana Pironkova beat Anna Lapushchenkova comprehensively with a 6-3 6-4 and secured her place in the third round.
Meanwhile Belgian Justine Henin reached the third round at Wimbledon after defeating Kristina Barrois 6-3 7-5.
German Angelique Kerber surged forth after overcoming Shahar Peer of Israel 3-6 6-3 6-3.
